Amsterdam, May 24th 2006 – Commodore Gaming B.V. and the connected gaming technology provider, Gamefederation, have announced a partnership to develop and distribute connected mobile games through a revolutionary digital retail download system which was demonstrated at the recent E3 Games Convention.
In a unique promotion at E3 in Los Angeles, all visitors were offered free connected mobile games which could be downloaded directly on to the phone via the Bluetooth enabled Commodore Gaming Tower. The connected functionalities built into the games allowed gamers to upload their scores on to a leader board which was displayed on the top screen of the Tower.
The sight of Commodore at E3 created a lot of interest. The success of the promotion underlined the potential of the Gaming Tower download system in a retail environment as well as the future of mobile game technology based around connected features.
“Connected functionality is at the heart of our vision to bring mobile games into the mass market”, stated Bala Keilman, CEO of Commodore Gaming. Commodore Gaming will be distributing games with connected features through the Gaming Towers and through their mobile games download website which has just recently been launched (commodoregaming.com). Although at an early stage of development, the web and wapsite (www.wap.commodoregaming.com) include a competition arena where gamers can upload their high scores and win prizes on a weekly basis. The site will continue to be enhanced with additional features and content as part of an ongoing process including the ability for users to create mobile communities and to receive personalized services, offers and updates all through connected mobile technology.
“Gamefederation is the world leader in connected mobile services and they share our vision of making mobile games more accessible and captivating for the mass audience of mobile phone users” explained Bala Keilman. “Commodore Gaming hopes to change not only the way people purchase and download mobile games but also create new types of game experience and interactions that can add excitement and value in a personal way.”
Thomas Lindgren, founder and Sales Director at Gamefederation says “Commodore Gaming has shown that they understand the business models of the future for mobile entertainment, both through their innovative and user friendly media towers but also their focus on ensuring that they always have a way of communicating with their consumers – through connected mobile applications.”
